The Visual Arts Program Presents: Sonic Encounter

Artist talk by Magdi Mostafa on Sunday, at the Art Department’s screening room P013-AUC New Cairo Campus.

In this talk, the artist presented three featured projects from two different series of works, taking the element of “Sound” as an orbit for his thoughts, sometimes it works as the inspiration, sometimes the result of the work, or both. Including “Surface of Spectral Scattering”, “Transmission Loss” and “Isolation Cycles – The Lost Room”, how this idea about sound can lead to different perspectives within the space, and how to combine it with other elements or mediums like moving images or light art and sculptures.

Magdi Mostafa works primarily with site-specific, research-driven installation and performance projects, multimedia installations, and experimental "sound-based" works since 2003, Mostafa’s work has been featured in solo and group exhibitions including Donaueschinger Musiktage, Germany, 'New Sensorium' at ZKM center of Art and Media, Karlsruhe Germany, Echoes and Reverberations at Hayward Gallery
